Patient Site Navigation Update

Patient Site Navigation Update

Overview

Over the span of 2 months, my team and I were tasked with redesigning the navigation and information architecture of a patient website (DTP). Patients with ADPKD, a rare kidney disease, needed a go-to resource to learn about treatment with JYNARQUE that was optimized so they could easily access the information they need.

The live site can be found here: www.jynarque.com

My Role

I was the UX architect for this project and worked alongside a Lead UX architect, 2 visual designers, 2 engineers, 3 account managers, 1 copywriter, 1 creative director and 1 medical strategist.

I was responsible for creating the research plan, discussion guide and prototype for testing. I also worked closely with the account team to prioritize work and meet requirements and with the analytics team to optimize KPIs post-launch.

Outcome

After speaking with users, we discovered that we should: move away from self-segmenting in the top navigation and focus navigation items on concrete tasks and simple language, make a clear homepage signifier in the navigation to link users to the homepage, and prioritize community information and patient stories over disease education content.
